Thomas William Smith
Forward (1997-2009)
Such was the respect and popularity that Tommy Smith earned in his two spells of Watford service that he even emerged unabused from scoring one of the two goals which clinched the second-tier championship for Queens Park Rangers at Vicarage Road in 2010/11. It was in an away match against QPR that he scored his first Football League goal, within a minute of taking the field as a substitute – and it won the match. Quick, energetic, and a good finisher, he has played a variety attacking roles with equal dedication and effectiveness. His younger brother Jack followed him through the Watford schoolboy and youth system to enjoy a good League career, and their father played for the club’s youth and reserve teams.
