Ronald Edward Spelman
Winger (1963-1965)
In Ron Spelman’s opening Watford appearance he gave an outstanding performance and scored one of four goals against Wrexham. This was not his first spectacular right-wing display at Vicarage Road, as four years earlier he’d inspired Norwich City to victory in a top-of-the-table reserve-team game. Later in life he worked as a heating engineer until he developed arthritis of the neck, diagnosed as a football-related condition, and he suffered a long period of unemployment.
