Leslie Graham

Inside-forward (1955-1957)

Player

A crafty inside-forward with an excellent career total of 121 Football League goals, Les Graham signed for Blackburn Rovers while he was representing the army in India. In his one season in the First Division he emerged with what was, for a member of a relegated side, an extremely healthy scoring ratio of a nearly a goal every other game. In 1950/51 he took the first two of three penalty-kicks awarded against Manchester City, and both of them were saved by Bert Trautmann – Blackburn nevertheless won 6-1 and Graham did score from open play. His FA Cup goals tally for Watford accrued mainly from five in two games against non-League opposition.
