Brinley Roy Jones

Full-back (1963-1966)

One of an immensely distinguished Welsh footballing family (brother Cliff, father Ivor and uncle Bryn all played for Wales) and a strong-tackling full-back who became Watford’s captain. Bryn Jones reached Vicarage Road with the connivance of Northampton Town, under a contrived arrangement arising from Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic’s resentment of manager Bill McGarry’s move to Watford and their consequent refusal to do any transfer business with the club. His contract as Folkestone Town’s player-manager was cancelled when he was forced by injury to retire from playing.
