William Henry Cooke
Full-back (1954)
This rugged, determined left-back was 35 when he came to Vicarage Road. He played in the first ten games of the season, but was replaced first by Lionel Smith (who was himself 34) and then Dave Bewley (also 34). Billy Cooke didn’t play in the first team again. The vast majority of his Football League experience was with Luton Town, for whom he made over two hundred appearances.
