Alexander Watson Ritchie

Winger (1933-1934)

Player

In his two full seasons with Reading he comfortably outscored his colleague Frank McPherson, who had hit 55 goals in 61 Football League games in his first Vicarage Road spell. At the end of those two seasons the pair joined Watford together (McPherson for the second time), and Alex Ritchie began and ended the 1933/34 season as the first-team outside-right, with very little action in between. On first moving to England he’d figured in Blackpool’s forward line during that club’s first-ever rise to the top flight.
